Tyson’s Reading Update–July, 2017

I’ve been bad.

Very bad.

I’ve neglected to post any substantial articles on this website for far too long and I intend to change that starting today.  So with that, here’s a quick look at a few of the books I’m currently reading.  As in the past, I’ll give you the rundown on a hard copy, eBook and audiobook.

The Hard Copy

I know, it’s shocking.  I was a very late Harry Potter bloomer and I’m just now on the final book.  I tried to replicate the real experience and I’d wait 8-12 months between the books.  I’m a couple of hundred pages in and I like it every bit as much as the others.  Yes, I know what’s going to happen.  Yes, I’m sad.

The eBook(s)

This is a great book; full of advice and insight from some friends and mentors of mine.  If you download it, make sure you have plenty of paper and a pen handy when you read it–you’ll want to take notes.

So I made a pretty big change in my life last November, and I’m not ashamed to say that I need all the help I can get.  While this book is a bit outdated, it’s still full of some great advice and ideas for any of you dudes out there that are considering taking the plunge and entering one of the hardest and underappreciated jobs on the planet.

The Audiobook

I don’t listen to as many audiobooks as I used to.  Frankly, it’s because I don’t have a job in Orlando anymore so no longer have 10+ hours of commuting each week.  However, I still try to listen to a book when I can and over the past several months I’ve been really disappointed.  I finally went back to my tried and trusted security blanket–Stephen King–and started listening to the second installment of his Dark Tower series:  The Drawing of the Three.

So far it’s incredible.

I have a big roadtrip coming up in a few weeks and I should be able to finish it and start the next one, just in time for the big movie that comes out next month!

Well there you have it, my first post in a long time and four solid book recommendations.  Now it’s your turn.  Share your current reading choices in the comments and let me know.  I keep a journal full of “to read” titles and I’d love to include yours on the list.  In the meantime, have a great summer and happy reading!
